    Question

In Aleph 20 we have a directory xxx40 in $alephe_dev which was not present in Aleph 16

    Answer

xxx40 libraries are related to the new Integrated Interlibrary loan module (Integrated ILL) and replace the xxx20 libraries of Aleph 16.2
The new functionality was first introduced in Aleph 18.01.

    Additional Information

In order to learn more about the Integrated ILL module please read "Aleph 20 User Guide - Integrated ILL".
The migration process is described in document "How_to_Migrate_to_Integrated_ILL_-_18.01.pdf". Both documents can be obtained in our documentation center.
