    XXX50 FileList not available in GUI Task Manager; Circ client crashes

    Problem Symptoms:
    * Attempts to access the Circulation Module file list causes the Circ module to hang, then crash
    * All of Aleph is extremely slow
    * Hundreds of orphan sshd and sftp processes are running


    We are no longer able to access the Circ module file list. (The XXX50 library is the only ADM library that is not available through the GUI Task Manager.)? 

    oing so causes the circ module to hang for a couple of minutes and then crash. We have been having these problems since Tuesday. All of Aleph was extremely slow and we discovered we had hundreds of orphan sshd and sftp processes running. We killed them and restarted the Aleph application yesterday (Wednesday), but the problems were not solved. I believe the file list may be corrupted.

    Cause:
    Too many files in xxx50/print directory

    Resolution:
    Clean out the files (util X/9) in the xxx50/data/print directory.

     

    Additional Information

    This command shows the number of files in the xxx50 $data_print directory:?  > dlib xxx50?  > dp?  > ls -al | wc? 

    In one Case (in 2020), though the files in the $data_print directory were deleted, more just continued to be written.  These were photo-request-slips and photo-request-letters generated by the processing of z38 requests by the ue_06 (request) daemon in the xxx50 library.  When ue_06 was stopped they stopped being produced.
