    Description:
    We are attempting to implement patron picture in Aleph v20. We are currently upgrading from Aleph v17 and have not used patron picture before.

    The documentation indicates that "If the bor_pics directory has reached the limit of 1000 pictures, new files will be stored in numbered directories under bor_pics, such as bor_pics/1, etc."

    Are the sub-directories created automatically or do we have to create these manually (KB 21279) - that will be 23 directories for us?

    Resolution:
    If you are adding the pictures via the GUI, the system will generate a new bor_pics/n subdirectory if/when it hits the limit of 1000. If you are adding the pictures yourself, then you need to split them into the bor_pics/n subdirectories yourself.

    {Note that the name of the each picture-file needs to be the Aleph patron ID (z303_rec_key) -- not the barcode.}

    The site developed a program to match and convert the filenames to the Aleph patron ID in accordance with the Aleph requirements.
