    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21

    Description:

Is it possible to use file-90 or file-96 to create two items and two holdings for a single bib record?

If an order is created with 2 copies (i.e. 980 $$g2), the "Number of Copies " in Z68 Order Record correctly indicates 2, but only one item record is created. Is there a way to have it create two items?

    Resolution:

The possibility to create more than one item when running file-90 was implemented with Version 22. For all versions before it's unfortunately not possible.

    • Additional Information

    • A workaround to create several items/holdings is to use manage-50 after the BIB data loading ...

      (1) Run file-90 or file-96 in order to load BIB records and create the order record

      (2) Run manage-50 in order to create item and holding records

In case you don't need to create order records you could also do ...

      (1) manage-18 in order to load BIB records

      (2) Run manage-50 in order to create item and holding records

Please note that for manage-50 the input file must have a "Main field" (see documentation or help for service manage-50) for each item to create. E.g. if your main field is 985 and you want to create 3 items the field 985 must appear 3 times in the BIB record.
