    Question

What are the rules for setting the end punctuation by program fix_doc_punctuation_usm? Which characters are set for which subfield?

    Answer

The rules for program fix_doc_punctuation_usm are as follows:

    Field 245

Subfield a - dot at the end when there is no following subfield

                 - colon at the end when subfield b follows

                 - slash at the end when subfield c follows

Subfield b - dot at the end when there is no following subfield

                 - slash at the end when subfield c follows

Subfield c - dot at the end

    Field 260 and 264

Subfield a - dot at the end when there is no following subfield

                 - colon at the end when subfield b follows

                 - comma at the end when subfield c follows

b - dot at the end when there is no following subfield

                 - comma at the end when subfield c follows

c - dot at the end

    Field 300

Subfield a - dot at the end when there is no following subfield

                 - colon at the end when subfield b follows

                 - semicolon at the end when subfield c follows

Subfield b - dot at the end when there is no following subfield

                 - semicolon at the end when subfield c follows

Subfield c - dot at the end when there is no following subfield

Relevant for all fields: the ending dot is only added when there is not a dot at the end, e.g. when having 300$$a245 p.   no dot will be added.
