    manage-12 for authority library

    Question

I just ran it on my authority library xxx10 and it created 0 z103s -- the log looked good, no errors, and the table seemed OK also.
Is this normal for an authority library?

    Answer

manage-12 for the authority library is optional. It creates virtual 5xx fields representing broader term, narrower term and related term links between the authority records based on the values in tab07.

Most sites don't have tab07 set up and don't run manage-12 for the xxx10 library.

In order for the z103s to be built, you need to have:

    1. meaningful values in the xxx10/tab/tab07 and

    2. an update_z103_aut line in the xxx10/tab/tab_z103.

You would need to run manage-12 in the xxx10 library in order to initially populate the z103.

The 5xx z103 records generated by manage-12 could be used in four different ways:

    a. Included in the xxx10 Browse index. In order to do this the xxx10 manage-12 would need to be run and the 5xx tags added to the xxx10 tab11_acc prior to the run of the xxx10 manage-02.

    b. Included in the authority record Full display in the GUI, by adding the 5xx tags to the xxx10 edit_doc_999.ng.

    c. Included in the Web display of the AUT record from the BIB heading -- by adding the following line to the xxx10 tab_expand:

    WEB-ACCREF expand_doc_aut_aut

    d. Included in the GUI display of the AUT record from the BIB heading -- by adding the following line to the xxx10 tab_expand:

    GUI-ACCREF expand_doc_aut_aut

b, c, and d will work even if "a" has not been done.
