    p_manage_50 Help: 'Delete Item Field'?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
    From Aleph-19's manage-50 help file:

    Expand Procedure
Select the appropriate expand routine. The purpose of this field is to allow the 'main field' to be manipulated before item and holdings records are created based on the information contained in the 'main field'. For example, if the sublibrary of the resulting item records depends on several fields scattered through the bibliographic record, the library can write an appropriate expand program that adds the appropriate sublibrary value in the main field.

If this field is used, then the value of the 'Delete Item Field' is set to 'N'. When using expand programs to manipulate the bibliographic record before creating the item/holdings records, it is preferable not to delete the item field.

I don't see any field in either the .xml that defines the fields for the submit pop-up box, or the same file's final comments that define the parameter block, i.e. anything called 'Delete Item Field'. Is this just a bit of obsolete documentation?

    Resolution:
The p_manage_50 Help has been corrected (the 'Delete Item Field' paragraph has been removed) :
