pc_server: "alloc error: io_buf_gen : size ... "
- Article Type: General
- Product: Aleph
- Product Version: 18.01
Description:
We have experienced several pc server aborts with similar errors in the pc server logs. They all end with an (alloc error). The snip from the log looks like this:
SERVICE : C0536
MODULE : Acquisition Services
DESCRIPTION: Get Vendor Information (for General Invoice)
ACTION : HTML
PROGRAM : pc_acq_c0536
Load: /tmp/utf_files/exlibris/aleph/u18_3/abc50/tab/pc_tab_exp_field.eng
Load: /tmp/utf_files/exlibris/aleph/u18_3/abc50/tab/pc_tab_exp_field_extended.eng
alloc error: io_buf_gen : size : 5002
What might be causing this alloc error? Is this something that can be fixed by setup or is this a more serious issue?? We can not replicate it, but it has now occurred several times.
Additional info:
We have been receiving alloc errors (see below) within various pc_server logs since 10/23/08:
pc_server_6371.log.2310.0808:alloc error: mem : size : 822900 [ILL]
pc_server_6374.log.3010.1506:alloc error: io_buf_gen : size : 5002 [arrive serial]
pc_server_6362.log.3110.0744:alloc error: io_buf_z415: size : 2500 [ILL]
pc_server_6339.log.0411.1406:alloc error: io_buf_gen : size : 5002 [Get Vendor Information (for General Invoice)]
pc_server_6374.log.0511.0739:alloc error: io_buf_form : size : 2000 [Circ Cash transaction]
Note from Jerry: There is no pattern to what the pc_server was doing when the error occurred. I have added info in brackets to each of the above lines showing what it was doing.
Resolution:
A rep_change in versions 20 and 21 is described in Article cir-77: "alloc error: io_buf_form : size : 2000"
