    tab_sub_library_address.xxx - Where? (alephe/tab vs xxx50/tab)

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
We have two copies of tab_sub_library_address.eng: in $alephe_tab and in XXX50.
Log files of jobs that use this file show that it's loading three versions of the file: USM01, XXX50, and $alephe_tab, in that order. Is it necessary to have both $alephe_tab and XXX50 versions?
We didn't realize the XXX50 one existed until today and we had been baffled trying to figure out why changes to the $alephe_tab version weren't having any effect.

    Resolution:
16.02 rep_ver 6543 allows tab_sub_library_address.eng to be defined in each ALEPH_LIBS library in addition to $alephe_tab. That means that the table can be split to sub-tables. The system checks first in the ADM library XXX50/tab directory; if no file is found, it checks $alephe_tab..
(Note: the sublibrary code listed in the file needs to be unique across all libraries. You can't have the same sublibrary code for two different sub-libraries.).
Unless you have already started using the XXX50/tab table, we suggest keeping this in $alephe/tab and (to avoid confusion) deleting any occurrances in the XXX50/tab.
