    top" shows high CPU "rpciod" process

    Problem Symptoms:
    The Unix "top" command is showing something called "rpciod/2" using 20-25% of the cpu -- and the response time is slow.

    Cause:
    Uncertain.

    Resolution:
    This process disappeared on its own after several days, and (at least over the following two weeks) has not returned.
