    Description:
The "top" command has a zombie count in the hundreds, corresponding to hundreds of defunct processes like this:

    aleph 29139 24223 0 - ? 0:02 <defunct>

When these processes are killed, others continue to be created.

    Resolution:
KB# 8192-775 describes some rep_change's which can help with this.

In one case, a check of the aleph www_server log showed hundreds of messages like this:

license_check [err]: License expired on 20061031
    Current date is 20061108
    Error: License check failed, Exiting

Applying an updated aleph license stopped the generation of the zombie/defunct processes.
