Description:
Starting yesterday the ue_01_a process hangs after processing a few z07 records. There are no messages in the run_e_01.nnn log or in the Oracle alert log. Using util/e/2 stops the other ue_01 processes, but not ue_01_a.

After killing ue_01_a, deleting the z07 it was processing, and restarting ue_01, a few records will be processed, but then it hangs again. If it hangs on a particular record, it will always hang on that record in subsequent restarts (-- until/unless that z07 is deleted).

The records it stalls on are ones with diacritics, but ue_01 processes other, seemingly similar, records without any problem.

It would seem that v18 rep_change 1729 ("UE_01 fix_doc_ref_1 Y") could be involved, but we implemented that a month ago and changing it to "N" does not help.

Resolution:
Diagnostics showed that the hang was occurring at the point of a database write--for example, writing a Z101 record in update_sort_doc.cbl (but not consistently the z101... other records too).

Restarting oracle this morning solved the problem -- ue01 has been running normally today.
