    Description:
util w/1/1 in the 20_n instance doesn't show any www_server [or pc_server or z39_server, etc.] processes running, but

    > ps -ef | grep 20_n | grep www_server

    *does* show processes running.

    Resolution:
It seems that the server_monitor (invoked by the $aleph_proc/util_w_01_01 proc) sometimes doesn't work properly. This can happen especially when there's been an error in the start-up script (-- see KB 16384-22449).

In this case, killing all the www_server processes for the 20_n instance and then doing util w/3/1 to start it worked.

In some cases it may be necessary to reboot the server to get things straightened out.

See also article "server_monitor (and util w/1) don't show anything running"  (KB 4549).
