    v18 - v20 Upgrade plan ... using AIK and Upgrade Express

    Description:
    We are moving our production instance off of the server that it now shares with our Test instance and upgrading to v.20/Oracle 11 at the same time.

    We want to use AIK for the install and then UE 18 - 19 and UE 19 - 20.

    We would like to be running the new production server while our present production instance is still be used, so that we can test and configure it. Then we plan to do a cut over in late June. After that is successful we will upgrade the test instance using UE.

    Resolution:
    We suggest:

    1. Use AIK to install v20 on new server (See "Tree Search" /20 /Installation and System Requirements / Aleph Installation Kit.pdf on Doc Portal.)

    2. Use 19-20 UE kit to export the v18 data (a18_n.tar.gz) to the new server

    3. Use the 19-20 UE kit to Install Customer Data (a18_n.tar.gz) on the new server

    4. Run UE 18-19 and 19-20 on the new server

    5. Test the new server

    6. Do final extract of Oracle data and copy to new server (using 19-20 UE kit)

    7. Switch to the new server as the Production server.
