    We are trying to install the latest v18 service pack on our test server (cedar) and we get the error below about gcc. We have installed service packs before on this server so we're not sure what the problem is…

    I successfully installed sp 1184 on your server.

    <etc.>

    The problem was with the gcc that was in the path.
    I changed in aleph_start for the /usr/sfw/bin/gcc to be ahead of /usr/local/bin/gcc (the one you tried to run the sp with) in the $PATH and the sp worked fine.
