www_f_func and www_x_func files are empty

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 17.01

    Description:
While trying to figure out a problem with links to SFX from the catalog, I wanted to check what program a function was calling from the web. But, looking in our 'a' tree directory, I see that both www_f_func and www_x_func files (in alephe/tab) are empty other than the header. What values should the default tables have?

    Resolution:
    The answer from Ex Libris:

"There was a decision to make the programs hard-coded.
the table are left empty for possible future developments.
Since there are no alternative programs yet, customers should not customize these tables.

    Programmer's reply about www_x_func:

the customer shouldn't use the table, unless there is some specific X-Service he uses and he wants it to perform different action or to add functionality to the X-Service, but this change is required only for that customer and Ex-Libris agreed to that. Then, in order not to change the functionality of the X-Service for all customers uses it, but change the X-Service for that particular customer, we will supply an alternative program, as the customer asked for, and that routine will be inserted to the www_x_func table, so that for that customer only, activating the X-Service will perform the new routine. That is also the reason for the set-up.
The same is for the www_f_func service and web services."
