www_server error: unable to extend index XXX01.Z35_ID by 512 in tablespace TS

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23

    Problem Symptoms:
In the $LOGDIR/www_server_4991.log file we are getting these oracle errors:

    Oracle error: io_z35_write
ORA-01654: unable to extend index xxx01.Z35_ID by 512 in tablespace TS

    Oracle error: io_z69_write
ORA-01654: unable to extend index xxx01.Z69_ID1 by 512 in tablespace TS

    Cause:
Tablespace TSx is out of space.

    Resolution:
{See Article 3985 ("Execution error: file '/exlibris/aleph/a18_1/aleph/exe/ue_21_a.gnt' in run_e_21") in regard to identifying the tablespace the index resides in.)

util o/14/1 showed that tablespace TSX had less than 1 meg of space.

Using util o/13/1 and util o/13/3, a datafile was added to tablespace TSX.  (This should be done by the database administrator.  In a TWO_TASK (or Three-task) environment, util o/13/1 and util o/13/3 don't work and  the datafile must be added by the database administrator.)

As described in Article 000013963 ("z35 vs. z69: z35_event_type's and what z69 includes"), the z35 table is unnecessary in the bib library. It was occupying 1.4 gig. Therefore, we did util a/17/1 in XXX01 to empty it. (Note: the z35 in XXX50 should *not* be dropped in this fashion.)
