z303_user library / Patron home library in p_file_20

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
We have not implemented USER-SHARING in the ADM $data_tab/tab100. In the help in tab100, it indicates if set to Y,

! The library participates in a shared user environment; patrons
! created by this library are NOT identified in the user record
! (Z303_USER_LIBRARY is blank), and will display in the Patron List
! when a staff operator is connected to ANY library that is defined
! as "Y"; patrons that are identified as "belonging" to a library
! (Z303_USER_LIBRARY=an ADM library code) are NOT included in the
    ! Patron List.

Does the Z303_USER_LIBRARY match with the USER-REC-HOME-LIB in the PLIF?

Should Z303_USER_LIBRARY be left blank in the PLIF, even though the PLIF states this field is mandatory?

In addition to setting the ADM/tab/tab100 to Y for USER-SHARING? What about the $usr_library/tab//tab100?

    Resolution:
The PLIF field USER-REC-HOME-LIB updates the z303_home_library.

If TAB100 USER-SHARING is N (or not specified), the system places the active library (that is, the library in which p_file_20 is running) into the Z303_USER_LIBRARY.

If TAB100 USER-SHARING is Y, the system leaves the Z303_USER_LIBRARY as nulls.

As described in KB 8192-3339, the USER-REC-HOME-LIB is not mandatory. (A correction to the doc will be issued shortly.)

Normally, the ADM tab100, the $usr_library tab100, and the $alephe_tab tab100 should all have the same value for USER-SHARING. (The value which p_file_20 uses is the ADM library tab100.)
