z324 date earlier than z30 item open date

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
The items for bib record 975861 show an open date of 2010-12-14, while the Z324 has a date of 2010-06-01:

    01 z324 \
    02 z324_rec_key \
    03 doc_number .......000975861
    03 sequence .........000000001
    02 z324_enumeration \
    03 enumeration_a ....
    03 enumeration_b ....
    03 enumeration_c ....
    03 enumeration_d ....
    02 z324_location ......RIRB
    02 z324_date_time \
    03 date .............20100601
    03 hour .............1654

    How can this be? [ <Jerry Specht > ]

    Resolution:
If the z324_enumeration fields are blank (as they are in this case), then the z324 record will be generated by any update to an item with blank z30_enumeration fields (that is, multiple copies of this title).

Though it's true that the items (XYZ50 000150068-000020 and 000150068-000030) currently attached to this bib were created on 2010-12-14, we see in the z30h that the 000150068-000010 item had been in existence since 2003, being deleted on 2011-02-09:

    02 z30h_rec_key \
    03 doc_number .................000150068
    03 item_sequence ..............000010
    ...
    ...

    02 z30h_history \
    03 h_date .....................20110209
    03 h_hour .....................1108
    03 h_reason ...................Deleted
    03 h_cataloger ................JONES
    03 h_reason_type ..............DELETE

The z324 you see with the date of 2010-06-01 was created by an update to (the since-deleted) item 000150068-000010.
