    Question

For z35_event_type's 71-74, what is the difference between 'expansion' and 'no expansion'?

    Answer

Hold request z35 even types are:

71= Hold request transaction (placed on available item – expansion)
72 = Hold request transaction (placed on available item – no expansion)
73 = Hold request transaction (placed on item not available – expansion)
74 = Hold request transaction (placed on item not available – no expansion)

In Item statuses table (tab15) column 11 mean:

”If this item is requested in the Web OPAC, the patron will be given this specific item and not another copy. Enter Y or N.„

In  z37 Hold request record z37_expand possible value Y or N (expansion or not expansion):

Expanded requests with z37_expand=Y  mean requests which expanded to other like items
non-expanded request with z37_expand=N which are not expanded to other like items (only this specific item)

72 – This is a hold request to an item that is currently available and only the request is valid to this specific item
73 – This is a hold request to an item that is currently not available and the request also could refer to the another copy
74 – This is a hold request to an item that is currently not available and only the request is valid to this specific item
