Duplicate item - inventory number missing

When duplicating a physical item, the content of the field "Inventory number" is not copied. It used to be copied until June 2017. Is this a bug?
Actually it was the correction of a defect.
When selecting Actions > Duplicate on the List of Items page, the inventory number was copied to the new item so that when the new item was saved, you had two items with the same inventory number. This was fixed and now, when duplicating an item, the inventory number will be cleared.
We were reacting to customer reports who considered the copying of the inventory number a defect.
