Why does changing the order of Fulfillment Unit Rules result in a change to the Update Date for a rule? The rule itself was not edited.

Answer

This is the expected behavior when changing the order of Fulfillment Unit Rules under Configuration > Fulfillment > Fulfillment Units > Edit a Fulfillment Unit.

Since changes to the order of the rules list are considered a rule change, the "Update Date" will be set to the current date for any rule that is moved either up or down as a result of the change to the list's order.

Fulfillment rules are read top to bottom by Alma, and Alma will select the first rule it finds as a logical match to the conditions of the fulfillment transaction. Any change to the order of the rules list affects which rule will be applied when an item in the Fulfillment Unit is loaned.
