How to Enable the Unpaywall API Integration in Alma for use in Primo

To enable the Unpaywall API Integration, the "enable_open_access_services_from_unpaywall_api" Customer Parameter must be set to "true".  This will allow Unpaywall API Services to appear in the "View-it" of a Services Page.

This Customer Parameter is located in the following location in the Alma Configuration Menu:

Configuration Menu > Fulfillment > General > Other Settings

Please note that the Unpaywall API limits calls based on the email configured in the API request.  This institutional email address must be configured, as it is one of the necessary parameters  that the Unpaywall API needs to function.

The institutional email is defined at the Organizational Unit Contact Information tab (Configuration > General > Libraries > Add a Library or Edit Library Information):

• If a preferred email is defined,  as this email is used in the API call.
• If it is not defined, an institution-specific invalid email address must be used instead.  

Example:  FakeUser@InstitutionalEmailAddress.edu
