    Import Profile / new Merge rule: Completed with Errors

    Problem Symptoms:
    * creating import profile that would replace all existing fields except for all 035 fields
    * created new merge rule adapting the syntax from the help file
    * after running the profile, get message "completed with errors"; record is not updated
    * input file contained one record: number of records processed 1, number of matches found 1
    * no other action or error occurred

    Cause:
    The merge rule had a trailing space after the "end" statement. After removing this space, saving the rule, and running the import again, the merge was successful.

    Resolution:
    To identify and remove trailing spaces in merge rules, perform the following steps:
    1) Go to Alma Menu > Resource Management > Open Metadata Editor
    2) In the left-hand menu > Merge, double-click the relevant rule
    3) Save (to open the drool syntax window)
    4) Select all (ctrl+A) to reveal whether there are trailing spaces
    5) Remove any trailing spaces
    6) Save
