    Question

I am trying to load a MARC file to an import profile and I encounter the following error: "failed during Parsing record" and it won't accept the file. How can I fix this?

    Answer

In some cases, there may be an issue with the file itself that was provided by the vendor. This can include potential issues with the LDR or leader in one or several of the MARC records within the file.

In most cases, the problem is caused by a line break in one record in the file and the record length in the LDR is not calculated correctly.

As a workaround please try the following steps.

    1. Use MarcEdit, MarcEditor tool.
    2. Open the original file mrc file > Save the file as a mrk file > Re-save the file again as a mrc file.
    3. Use the newly create mrc file and try to load the file again in the import file.

If this process does not work to resolve the issue, please open a support case.
