POL Owning Library assigned automatically to portfolios

    • Article Type: Q&A
    • Product: Alma

    Question

When portfolios are generated by the POL creation process, the Library field in the Portfolio Information tab is being auto-populated by the name of the POL owning library. This happens with import profiles as well as manually created POLs.

    1. What are the implications of indicating the owning library in a portfolio? For example, if indicating the owning library in a portfolio allows you to scope a resource to a particular group of users, based on their home library, we would NOT want to indicate the owning library in a portfolio, because, by policy, whenever we purchase a resource, it must be made available to all campus users.

    2. Is there a setting that will allows us to not assign the owning library to a portfolio as part of the POL creation process (whether by import profile or manual POL creation)?

    Answer

It is not possible to configure Alma not to put the Owning library of the order in the Library field of the portfolio, However the portfolio can and will be available for all campuses unless you specifically decide otherwise by setting the “Available for”.
