Why is POL search by vendor code with one letter and an * (asterisk) slow?

Answer

When searching for POLs by vendor code using a single letter and the truncation "*" (asterisk) as the search term, response will be slow since Alma is searching many POLs looking for orders whose vendor code begins with the letter.  Ex Libris recommends using at least two or three characters with the asterisk when searching for PO Lines (for example, lw* or lwe*). The more POLs stored in Alma the slower the response time when searching by a single character and the truncation.
