Description

When we try to update an item, mainly for location changes, we receive an error: 'Internal error occurred'.

Resolution

The "Internal error occurred" message when attempting to change the permanent location of an item may be due to corrupted data when moving items from one holding to another.

In most cases, the holding was deleted, even if the item is still active.

To resolve this:

Create a report in Analytics in the Physical Item Subject Area.

Include: Barcode, Physical Item Id, Lifecycle, Holding Id, Holding Lifecycle, MMS Id, Bibliographic Lifecycle

If the report shows that the holding is deelted, copy the holding Id and restore the holding:

Alma Menu > Respurces > Advanced Tools > Manage Deleted Repository

Find Physical holdings with Search criteria = MMS ID/PID

Restore the holding.

You need to have the Repository Manager role to see this tool.
