    Question

Some items have Temporary Call Number, Temporary Call Number Type, and Temporary Item Policy fields populated.
Most can be attributed to migration from Aleph, but some examples appear to indicate that this is created in Alma automatically.
Can you explain why some items carry these fields and some don't?

    Answer

In Alma, these fields are only added manually via:
    1. Physical Item Editor
    2. Physical Item Sets
    3. Scan-In

Audit trail can confirm operator's input in the item's Physical Item Editor > History tab

Items that migrated from Aleph are populated with temporary call number type, temporary call number, or temporary item policy if the item record (Z30 oracle table) in Aleph had a check on the "temp location" (Z30_TEMP_LOCATION = Y). In some cases this information comes from the ADM record.
