    Question

Why were a number of BIBs rejected due to a unique constraint reported in Migration Statistic report? (what was the unique constraint?)

    Answer

The "unique constraint" error means there were more than one bib record with the same BIB system ID in 001 found in the MARC extracts file.
The BIB system ID must be unique. So only first record will be migrated, others will be rejected during bib conversion.

    Additional Information

This is an error/rejected message often reported in Alma Migration Statistic report that is sent to customer after the migration process has finished.
In some non-ExLibris ILS systems, placeholder records were created by duplicating existing records in the catalog, thus duplicating the 001. Customers are not always aware of the duplicate BIBs.
