    Overview

Gale (part of Cengage Group) is a large content aggregator and publisher whose content is widely available in Ex Libris products, both in the knowledgebases and in the Central Discovery Index.
Linking to Gale content in Ex Libris products requires customization of linking parameters using the Gale Location ID in order for links to function correctly. See the link below to the article "Gale Linking Information and Issues" below for details.

    Recent News

Gale has made changes to their KBART title list generation, which addresses a variety of issues in their metadata, such as duplicate links showing in CDI searches (see the link below to the article "Gale - Multiple links showing for an article or chapter in the same Gale collection" for more information).

Ex Libris made changes to the content type of articles from The Economist across CDI. See the link below to the article "Gale: Economist changes in CDI" for more information.

    Gale-specific articles

    • Gale Linking Information and Issues CKC article (All KBs and Discovery)
    • Gale - Multiple links showing for an article or chapter in the same Gale collection (CDI using Alma or SFX and Primo)
    • Gale: Changes to Business Insights products (all products)
    • Gale - World Scholar: Latin America and the Caribbean product change (April 2023) (all products)
    • Gale: Economist changes in CDI (May 2024) (all Discovery)

    Gale Research Complete (GRC) activation

Gale provides bundles of their products under the Gale Research Complete subscription, which offers academic institutions a deep well of content, including proprietary databases, award-winning eBooks, scholarly articles, and rare primary sources that enhance research, learning, and discovery at the university level and beyond.

However, since these are bundles of individual Gale products, each with their own linking configurations and customizations, we cannot support a "single activation" of GRC subscriptions. However, to make activating your GRC subscription as simple as possible, we have documented, for each available GRC subscription, the list of the applicable Gale collections, along with the corresponding names and collection identifiers in each of the Ex Libris knowledgebases (Alma, 360 KB, and SFX). Find your GRC bundle below to see the list of collection information. Note that while the article titles reference "Alma", the spreadsheet contains the collection name and identifiers for all Ex Libris knowledgebases (Alma, 360 KB, and SFX):

    • Gale Research Complete North America
    • Gale Research Complete UK/Europe/GRC-A
    • Gale Research Complete GRC B
    • Gale Research Complete GRC E
    • Gale Research Complete GRC G
