    Description:
Can you let us know if it's possible to use SSI's (server side includes) using the apache installation for MetaLib? I noticed in many of the Web files under /ins01/www_v_eng there are <include> tags that are used.
Are we able to use this notation for files under the apache/htdocs directory?

    Resolution:
The <include> tag we use is interpreted by the MetaLib server. It is not standard SSI and Apache is not configured by default to support it.

Libraries are able to change the Apache configuration. However changes must be maintained by the Library and are not supported by Ex Libris. We are unable to provide support for any errors occurring as a result of these changes.

Libraries are also able to edit the htdocs directory, in the sense that you can add any file you want to this directory. Please do NOT remove files from htdocs (it may prevent MetaLib from working). Another issue to keep in mind is that service packs / version updates may overwrite the directory htdocs and libraries are responsible for their own file backup (to ensure you don’t lose your changes if this file is updated by Ex Libris).

We do not recommend adding new files to www_v_eng, however technically speaking, it is possible to add files to www_v_eng and include them with the <include> tag. However customers should be aware that this is not SSI and it works completely differently.
