    Improved SSL-Certificate Handling

We are in the process of upgrading our handling of SSL certificates, eliminating the need for you to renew your certificates annually. Beginning July 2025, we are moving to a new certificate management tool that automatically generates and renews certificates. This move will be implemented gradually throughout the year, and by Dec. 31, 2025, all customers (excluding those in China) will have been moved to the new tool. No action is required on your part.

For additional information, see Simplifying Custom Domain Certificate Renewals - Introducing Automated Management with ACME. If you have any questions, please contact the support team

    Release Schedule

The release schedule for 2026 is now available at Primo Release Schedule and Rollout Policy.

Beginning in 2026, updates to Primo Back Office (BO) will be delivered once annually. These updates will focus primarily on maintaining security and on overall system stability.

    Merged August and November Releases

Given the minimal content scheduled for this release, we've streamlined this year's release schedule by combining it with our November release, eliminating unnecessary testing cycles with little added value for institutions.

    Primo and RedHat/RH7 Support

Previously, we announced the end of RedHat 7 support in Primo Classic, and we would no longer support it in the February 2025 release of Primo Classic. This deadline has been extended through the February release, but the May 2025 release of Primo Classic will fail without an upgrade to RedHat 8.

    Enhanced DEI Controls

    November 2025 PRM-48011

    CERV CERV Enhancement (ID #9021)

Support for automated modification of terms that are deemed problematic from the standpoint of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), has been expanded to include a number of powerful new features. The DEI settings enable you to create a list of problematic terms – words or phrases – that require special handling if they are found in the Subject fields of resource records. The handling specified for each term is implemented in both the full and brief displays of resource records, as well as in the facets of search results.

The following options are available for handling DEI terms:

    • Remove – Remove the term entirely from subjects and facets
    • Replace – Replace the term with a different term in subjects (facets are not modified), and optionally add a note beside the term whenever it appears in subjects or facets
    • None – Add a note beside the term whenever it appears in subjects or facets

For the Remove and None options, you can choose the Scope of the modification, namely, whether the term found in the Subject field must match the configured term exactly, or can be part of a phrase. In the latter case, if the term is found in a phrase, the entire phrase is removed or annotated. For example, if you configure a rule that removes the word immigration, and select the Part Of Phrase scope, not only would the subject immigration be hidden, the subject emigration and immigration would also be hidden.

When you choose Replace or None, you can also add information for patrons about the modification. When you do so, an Information icon (Info icon.) appears beside the term in the record and in the facets. When the patron selects the icon, a pop-up appears, displaying the message you configured for the term. The message can contain HTML, including links.

In the following example, three DEI rules were applied:

    1. Remove the term immigration, with the Part of Phrase scope.
    2. Replace the term immigrants with international job seekers, and add a note.
    3. Replace the term immigrants -- New York (State) -- New York with international job seekers -- New York (State) -- New York, and add a note.

These settings have the following effects on the display of this record:

Subject list before DEI adjustments are implemented.

List of Subjects Without DEI Adjustments

Subject list with DEI adjustments implemented, "immigrants" removed, "immigration" replaced, and a pop-up notification shown.

List of Subjects with DEI Adjustments Implemented

The list of terms to modify for DEI purposes must be uploaded to the system in a TXT file. Each line in the file defines a single rule for a single term. The file can be uploaded by navigating to the Institutions List page (Primo Home > Ongoing Configuration Wizards > Institution Wizard): select Edit for your institution, and then, in the DEI - List of terms to exclude from Subject Heading section, upload the file.

Incorrect country information was displayed in the Person Info Card. This has been fixed.

    April 2, 2025

    • Improved identification of book reviews for CDI records, previously classified as articles. This fix includes the following:
      1. Additional criteria were added to identify book reviews based on information in the title or abstract field. Some examples of such criteria are:

        • CDI resource type is article, and the Title contains the phrase book review.

        • CDI resource type is article, and the Title contains an ISBN followed by at least one digit.

        • CDI resource type is article, and the abstract starts with the phrase Book reviewed in this article.

      2. For merged records, the rule for selecting the resource type for logical records was changed for cases where participants from different providers had different resource types. Previously, the resource type found in most of the participants determined the resource type. This is no longer the case for book reviews by giving preference to the resource type instead of simply identifying it as an article.

    March 5, 2025

    • CDI-30397 SF: 07831344
The genre mapping for the score resource type was changed from unknown to document to prevent problems with OpenURL linking.
    • CDI-30075 SF: 05333261
Book editor data was incorrectly formatted in citations. Book editors are now listed in a dedicated field to ensure that editor names are correctly presented in citations.
    • New date formats (including MM and DD) are now supported with the cdate range filter.
    • New logic was added to ensure that a single secondary resource type, either "retraction note" or "retracted publication," is selected when both types are present.
    • CDI-28678 SF: 07155386
Internal CDI fields that Primo does not reference were removed from the PNX.
    • CDI-28472 SF: 06929716
In some cases, CDI records with the resource type Book Review also returned the secondary attribute Review Article. This has been fixed so that records of type Review Article are not returned as the secondary attribute for Book Review.
    • CDI-25467 SF: 07221960, 07101700, 06924867, 06608446, 06590326, 06579412
Some Reference type records from Gale were incorrectly merged with similar Gale Reference titles causing linking and availability issues. This has been fixed.
    • CDI-21744 SF: 05324244, 07056359
In some cases, the << sign was removed from records with it in documentTitle. This has been fixed.

    February 5, 2025

    • CDI-29556 SF: 06247514, 06256831, 06845693
Hyphenated terms (e.g., cell-dependent) and terms ending in an apostrophe (e.g., employees) were not highlighted correctly. This has been fixed.
    • CDI-29868 SF: 05301799, 07261804, 07498035
In some cases, editor names were duplicated on Primo search results. This has been fixed by selecting a single instance of each editor name from the participant records within the library’s activations.
    • CDI-28303 SF: 07077133, 07133180, 07692626, 07705917, 07804237
When using normalized CDI Subject headings, multiple subject facet values could not be applied sequentially. This has been fixed.
    • CDI-29763 SF: 07716814
The CDI Activation Analysis Tool was updated to use jQuery version 3.7.1.
