When using RapidILL-ILLiad integration, files for a borrowing request are not automatically sent to patron or are not received at all from specific lender

  • Product: RapidILL
  • Relevant for Installation Type: Multi-Tenant Direct, Dedicated-Direct, Local, TotalCare

Keywords: ILLiad, files, automatically, send to patron, borrowing, borrowing, request, not receiving

Problem:

You use RapidILL-ILLiad integration. When borrowing through RapidILL, borrowing requests from specific lenders who also use ILLiad don't automatically send the file to the patron, or the files do not arrive at all. This only happens with a specific lender or lenders.

Note: Requests between two ILLiad institutions do NOT go through RapidX, but straight through Odyssey. Therefore, the RapidILL staff is limited in troubleshooting these kinds of cases, as the file does not go through Rapid by design.

Solution:

This is usually due to a change in ILLiad configuration, either on the borrowing or lending side. Here's some troubleshooting steps:

  1. What is your OdysseyAutoElecDel setting? If it is set to "Trusted" - is the lender a trusted sender?
  2. What is the Odyssey address you have configured for the lender? Perhaps they've changed it recently and it needs to be updated.
    • If the Odyssey address you have configured for the lender is incorrect, ILLiad will have a hard time processing the request.
  3. Make sure the Odyssey address you have configured in Rapid is correct:
    1. In your Rapid website, go to Settings>My Profile.
    2. Under "Branch and Contact Information" edit the relevant branch.
    3. Make sure the preffered method for delivery for both borrowing and lending is set up correctly.
      • If you use a shared ILLiad server, make sure your IP address includes the NVTGC.
    4. Press save.

If you've checked all these things and the problem persists, you may open a case to RapidILL support, though you may also find ILLiad support useful.
