    Rapido Theme: Connect

Rapido Networks Icon.pngThe vision for Rapido is it being a part of a flexible ecosystem with limitless connections with libraries and document providers.  Resource sharing is the collaborative work of libraries to promote and enable access to resources and information. Rapido connects libraries and their users with a collective collection to optimize resource access.  Thinking about the ecosystem, there are multiple spheres and solutions within it. The Rapido libraries are a connected community within that ecosystem. Rapido libraries connect with a partners which are using a variety of solutions.  Ecosystem developments are all about connections with and between one another and collections.

    Rapido for your library

Rapido is currently available for libraries using Alma and will become available to libraries using any ILS including integration with FOLIO, WMS, and others

    Connect via pods

Libraries participate in pods to be automatically connected to all pod partners. Joining pods automates the processes involved in connecting to partners and grows a library's network and facilitates sharing of returnables.  Mutual commitments within pods can include no transaction fees, delivery time expectations, consistent loan period, and other request aspects. Pods exist for libraries to join or can be created if needed. Pods can have geographical elements such as country or regions as a boundary, they may be encompassing consortial agreements, or there may be other parameter in existing or future pods. Libraries order their pod preference to determine which pods should be used first, second, etc while the routing and load balancing within a pod is automated by Rapido.

Rapido also manages the requests for non-returnables while connecting your library to the collections of the RapidILL community.  The automation of the system enables the processing of a high number of requests, with time-zone awareness, precise holdings records, load balancing, and more.

    Connect peer to peer

Connect directly to libraries that aren't in the pods. Peer to peer connections can be managed by manually assigning a request to a partner, or automatically via rotas and rota assignment rules, or locally managed pods. Connect peer to peer with libraries that are performing resource sharing via Alma, email, ILLiad, and in H1 2024 to libraries using Tipasa or WorldShare.

Workflow actions like find partner workflow and enrich from global index support finding potential lenders who have enabled data sharing to fill requests that aren't filled by pod or rota partners.

    Self registration

Rapido libraries can enable self registration functionality to support connections with libraries, individuals, and organizations that need access but may not have other options for connecting as a user or partner. The registered user has a library user  experience in their discovery to request experience and in the requests transparency within the library card. While configuration choices at the Rapido library determines if they are working with these registered library users as borrowing user requests or as lending partner requests.

    Rapido integrations

Connect with the content suppliers  Research Solutions (Reprints Desk) and CCC Get It Now via seamless cloud apps within the Rapido workflows.

In H1 2024, workflows will support searching Rialto Marketplace.

Connect with any of your other resource sharing broker systems by configuring ILLiad, Tipasa, WorldShare, Relais, or ReShare as partners of last resort within Rapido.
