Citation Style Language (CSL) is a crowd-sourced repository with commonly used citation styles. In addition to the thousands of RefWorks citation styles and any styles you may have created using the RefWorks Citation Style Editor, RefWorks allows you to use CSL styles.

CSL styles are identified with a green CSL icon and a lock.

They can be selected for use like any other citation style. CSL styles support either in-text citations or notes but not both.

Because CSL styles are created and maintained by the CSL community, any editing or modifying of these styles is done outside of RefWorks. See the Citation Styles Language editor for more information.

CSL styles are available for use in RefWorks and RefWorks Citation Manager (RCM) for Word. CSL styles will be supported in RCM for Google Docs in the future.
