Failed to get the operational shared during ssh login to Rosetta Application Server

  • Product: Rosetta
  • Product Version: v5 and up
  • Relevant for Installation Type: Local

Description

I logged into Rosetta via ssh and noticed this message which indicates that operational_shared cannot be reached:

Execute Dps cshrc
IGNORE=N
cd /exlibris/dps/d4_1/profile
Execute master cshrc
FAILED
ERROR  Failed to get the operational_shared.
TERM is vt100
il-rosetta.org-d4(1) >>

When I run 'dps_start' I get "op_dir: Undefined variable":

digipres.cjh.org-d4(1) >>dps_start
op_dir: Undefined variable

When I run 'ver' I see these a "ORA-12543" error:

digipres.cjh.org-d4(1) >>ver
Execute master cshrc
FAILED
ERROR Failed to get the operational_shared.
Rosetta Server Status : DOWN
Application role : DEP,REP,DEL,PER,IDX
ERROR: ORA-12543: TNS:destination host unreachable

I can confirm that Oracle and the listener are up.
However, dps_start doesn't execute because op_dir cannot be reached (in /operational_shared)

Resolution

Check to make sure that you have not inadvertently activated a firewall rile on the Oracle database that prevents the application servers from reaching it.
You may want to login to the Oracle database server and temporarily stop the firewall service  to see if the application server is then able to connect.
If this is the case, it is recommended to either reconfigure the firewall or disable the service.
