    Export MARC Fields from SFX

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: SFX
    • Product Version: 4

    Description:
How can I generate a sample of data from the SFX knowledgebase?
I want to know which MARC fields are recorded in the SFX KB and are available for import into Aleph or Primo.

    Resolution:
See the current General User's Guide, Advanced Export Queries section for updated information. There are detailed sections describing the MARC XML and Aleph Sequential formats.
Files in these formats can be loaded into a system like Primo or Aleph.

These are the MARC fields included in the Aleph Sequential format:
    LDR
    008
    010$a
    022$a
    030$a
    090$a
    210$a
    245$a
    260$abc
    650$ax (optional)
    776$x
    856$uy (optional)
    866$abstxz
    945$cmst

All of the above fields are included in the MARC XML format. In addition, the following fields are also available:
    245$h (optional)
    852$a (optional)
    866$ij
    901$1 (optional)

To export a file, go to the SFX Admin > Export Tool > Advanced Export Queries (2nd tab) > Advanced Export, Select Output format = "XML" or "Aleph Sequential" radio button for an Aleph load. Use XML for a Primo load. An Aleph Sequential file will be much smaller than a MARC XML file.

The guide also includes sample records and additional instructions.
