editing a symbolically liked file using Unix File Manager in SFX Admin

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: SFX
    • Product Version: 3

    Description:
When using Unix File Manager in SFX Admin and editing a file that is a symbolic link, when saving the file, the system ask if you want to break the link and by saying yes the system appears to be working as normal, but the link is broken and the local file is not saved. Is there something we could check to make this work correctly?

    Resolution:
This is currently known behavior in the Unix File Manager - unless the file is copied and renamed, the edited symbolically linked file cannot be saved. Our current procedure for editing a symbolically linked file, as outlined in section 11 of User Guide part 2, is as follows:

? use ‘copy’ button to make a local copy of the file (with a different name), and make the necessary changes
? use ‘delete’ button to remove the original symbolically linked file
? use the ‘rename’ button to give the local file the same name as the original file
