Summon: 880 Catalog Record Field Display

    • Product: Summon

Does the Summon service support non-Latin data in the 880 field?

Yes, the Summon service indexes non-Latin data in the 880 field and displays the data in parentheses next to the transliterated form as shown on the Details page in the following example.

The transliteration for titles appears only in the details, not the brief results.
Fields supporting the combined transliteration/non-Latin data display include:
    • Document title
    • Subtitle
    • Publication Title
    • Author
    • Edition
    • Abstract
Indexing 880 fields occurs automatically as part of Summon MARC Mapping. The non-Latin data is searchable via a keyword search (not via a field search). A number of non-Latin languages are supported with enhanced searching through native-language search capabilities.

Display of 880 Fields can be disabled if necessary via the Summon Administration Console.
Libraries using the Summon API also have access to the 880 fields.
