    Symptoms

    Receive "Unable to update this record" or "Unable to add this record" error when trying to save a bibliographic record where the 336 $b, 337 $b, or the 338 $b is too short according to LC Standards. Record can't be saved or imported.

    Defect Status

    VYG-7364 is resolved1 for Voyager version 10.4 and higher.

    Replication Steps

    Applies to Cataloging client, bulk import and Acquisitions client:

    336 $b, RDA Content Type, is less than 3 characters in length. Attempt to save.  Receive error: "Unable to update this record"
    337 $b, RDA Media Type, is less than 1 character in length. Attempt to save.  Receive error: "Unable to update this record"
    338 $b, RDA Carrier Type, is less than 2 characters in length. Attempt to save.  Receive error: "Unable to update this record"

     

    Additional Information

    1A more descriptive and user-friendly error message now displays in Voyager 10.4 and later.
