    Archiving Voyager Record Deletion Files

    • Product: Voyager
    • Product Version: 8.2.2

    Question

    How to archive deleted.bib.marc, deleted.auth.marc, deleted.mfhd.marc and delete.item files located in /m1/voyager/xxxdb/rpt/?

    Answer

    1. Locate deleted.bib.marc, deleted.auth.marc, deleted.mfhd.marc and delete.item in /m1/voyager/xxxdb/rpt/ on the Voyager server.
    2. Rename each file you wish to archive to its archived file name (i.e. deleted.bib.marc.yyyy.mm.dd) using the command: mv [original file name] [new file name]
    3. A new file will be created the next time a record of that type is deleted in Voyager.

Best practice is to check deleted record file sizes regularly and rename the files before the filesize reaches the Voyager 2 GB filesize limitation.
