    In Voyager cataloging client cannot manually replace records matching on BBID (BIBID, BIB_ID)

    Problem Symptoms:

    When doing a manual import matching on the BBID (BIB_ID, BIBID) only, incoming record added to database instead of replaced or merged.
     

    Cause:

    Analysis of Issue VYG-4109 determined this behavior is by design. See Resolution.
     

    Resolution:

    Record > Import is not designed to match on 001.

    Use File > Work Record to open file, records. Save to DB will match & replace based on 001.
    OR
    Use alternate matchpoint.

    Additional Information

    1. Open System Administration > Cataloging > Bibliographic Duplicate Detection Profiles > New
    2. Set new duplicate detection profile to:
    2a. Duplicate Handling: Replace
    2b. Duplicate Replace/Warn: 100/100
    2c. Field Definitions / Field Weight: BBID / 100
    3. Click Save.
    4. In Policy Definitions > {Policy Name} > Edit > Duplicate Detection > move new duplicate detection to Selected.
    5. Click Save.
    6. Open Cataloging > Options > Preferences > Global > select BIBID profile Bibliographic/Import profile
    7. Click OK.
    8. Open a bib record
    9. Click File > Save As > Save record to file.
    10. Click Record > Import > choose file from step 9.
    11. Click Save to DB
    12: Result: record is added to the database and does not replace original record.
