    Question

Is it okay to delete EDI files from the incoming and outgoing directories on the server after they have been loaded? Will it impact the data in Voyager?

    Answer

Once the EDI files have been processed (either loaded into Voyager for incoming files, or sent to the vendor for outgoing files), it is fine to delete them from the incoming and outgoing directories; they are no longer needed after processing.

Best practice is to check to be sure all data from files has been loaded or sent correctly prior to deleting files; alternately, files can be moved to an archive directory temporarily before permanent deletion.
