Configure Voyager Z39.50 to send UTF-8 encoded records

    • Product: Voyager
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Multi-Tenant Direct, Dedicated-Direct, Local, TotalCare

    Question

How to enable the Voyager Z39.50 Server to send UTF-8 encoded records.

    Answer

By default, the Voyager Z39.50 Server sends MARC-8 encoded records to remote clients that request records via the Z39.50 protocol.

UTF-8 encoded records can also be provided by configuring the Z39.50 Server to handle UTF-8 encoded records on a separate port.

For instructions to implement this separate port configuration, see the Technical User's Guide, Chapter 18.

    Additional Information

Note that after upgrading Voyager you may need to reimplement these configuration changes.
