    Defect Status

Issue VYG-4590 is currently pending work plan.

    Replication steps

Install or uninstall Voyager clients on a Windows 7 (32- or 64-bit) machine.

    Result:

Error 1721. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
    or
Error 1722 There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor

    Workaround

    1. Right-click cmd.exe, and choose "Run as administrator" to open a command-line session.
    2. At the prompt, type: net localgroup
    3. If "Power Users" is not listed, at the prompt, type: net localgroup "Power Users" /add

If the above fails, for Windows XP-Windows 8.1, try running MS Fixit. This can be found at: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mats/program_install_and_uninstall

If MS Fixit fails to resolve the issue, or if Windows 10+ is in use:

    1. Press Windows key + R, type services.msc, press enter and then click Services.
    2. Double-click on the Windows Installer service.
    3. In the Windows Installer properties window, click on dependency tab.
    4. You will see the dependency services listed there. (Remote Procedure Call and DCOM Server Process Launcher)
    5. Both the above services should be ‘Started’ and set to’ Automatic’.

If the above fails, try re-registering the Windows Installer:

    1. Quit all Windows programs
    2. Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run
    3. Type msiexec /unregister in Open box
    4. Click OK
    5. Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run
    6. Type msiexec /regserver in Open box
    7. Click OK
    8. Restart PC
