    Question

How can I prevent my remote Z39.50 searches timing out when the number of hits is high?

    Answer

Adjust setting in System Administration > System > Search Configuration > Database Definition > Definitions tab > Maximum Hits

    • By default, this value is set to 1000 when a new Database Definition is created.
    • Decreasing this number (to 100, for example) can greatly reduce the processing load on z3950svr and remote Voyager connections. Tune this based on own PC/server/network configuration and needs of users.
