    How to set up remote z39.50 search?

    Desired Outcome Goal:
    Define new z39.50 connection

    Procedure:
    Define in System Administration > Search > Database Definitions > New
    1. Database tab
    1.a. Enter Code, Name and Database Description
    1.b. Select Z39.50 Database as Protocol
    1.c. Select Bibliographic as Type
    1.d. Choose if connection Public Use and/or Staff Suppress
    2. Definitions tab
    2.a. Enter Opac Addr and Port
    2.b. Enter Database name1
    2.c. If needed, enter username and password
    3. Attributes tab
    3.a. Click New
    3.b. Add attributes as required by remote server.
    4. Save.

    Additional Information

    1This very likely is "voyager" (but not always), if you are setting up a configuration to a Voyager site.  

    See System Administration Users' Guide > Database Definitions for additional details/information.
    May require obtaining connection information from owner of remote database.

    Outgoing port must be opened on server's firewall rule configuration.
