Question
How to update WebVoyage customizations and test new features before upgrade?
Answer
Use the Local OPAC Preview Server, an environment with test data provided by Ex Libris with which you can test your existing OPAC skin configuration in a local setting prior to the upgrade. You can test both new features and your existing WebVoyage customizations for the new version of Voyager before upgrading. The process of installing Local OPAC Preview Server will also assist you to identify any changes to OPAC skin files that might need to be made for the upgrade.
- A set of skins to customize will be created in [by default] /m1/incoming/PREVOY[version]/tomcat/vwebv/context/vwebv/ui
- The preview server tomcat process may be stopped for Voyager backups. Restart it is not part of the backup script, so you may need to restart it each day when you wish to work on it. See the Preview Server documentation for more information.
