    Question

When I attempt to remove an item type/patron group combination from a circulation policy matrix, I receive the error  "Record in use by Circulation Transaction." How can I remove an item type/patron group combination from the circulation policy matrix if this combination has been used to circulate material?

    Answer

Because Voyager retains anonymized circulation transactions, once a particular combination of item type and patron group have been used to circulate material, it can not be removed from the circulation policy matrix. If you wish to prevent this policy definition from being used in the future, you can set it so that it does not allow circulation.

To set a policy definition so that it does not allow circulation:

    1. System Administration > Circulation > Policy Definitions > {choose the relevant policy} > Edit > Matrix
    2. Choose the patron group/item type combination and click 'Modify.'
    3. On the Settings tab, ensure the "Charge/Renew" checkbox is not checked; Save.
